Do you ever feel lost in the sea of thoughts, responsibilities, relationships, etc. ? Or do you ever miss the old you, the happy you, the smiling you?

We all have been there... isn't it?

I believe the most important relationship you’ll ever have is the one with yourself.

If you could relate to what I said above and you are one of them, then here are my 5 tips for you to reconnect with your inner self.

So... let's begin!!

1) Connecting with Nature

Now as cliche as it might sound, but this is one of the most effective ways to feel at ease. Nature helps us connect to the universe and inspires us. Go outside and take deep fresh breaths of pure air, close your eyes, and feel the breeze passing your face, take a walk on the grass barefoot and feel the earth beneath you. Listen to the sounds of nature, which can help you listen to yourself. Just look at your surroundings and be grateful for this beautiful life you have got. At this moment, forget everything else and look inside you and introspect yourself. Feel the calmness in your mind and soul. Your mind will be as quiet as you let it. Trust me, by doing these few things you will feel rejuvenated and completely at peace and all your stress will fade away. It is extremely important to spend some time in nature away from all the distractions this world has to offer us.

2) Share how you are feeling with someone you trust

We often hide our inner thoughts and feelings because we're concerned if we share it with someone they might judge us. Most of us feel vulnerable in such situations. Speaking up and sharing your thoughts can help you feel more powerful and confident about yourself. I am personally an emotion hoarder but I must say that the day I choose to open up my heart to my inner circle, I feel I have conquered something really big.

However, you may choose not to be open with people you don't fully trust because to be open is to share vulnerable information about yourself.

You can seek the help of a therapist if you think you have nobody who you can open up to but please share your thoughts, it works like Magic.

3) Do Things that Lights you Up

Sometimes when you feel disconnected with yourself, the best thing you can do is something you love. Create art, paint something, listen to your favorite music, dance, look at your old photos and the list is long.....

Ask yourself what is that brings you joy? What can instantly lift your mood?... and just indulge in that. Don't overthink it.

Creative pursuits allow us to relax and quiet our mind enough that thoughts and feelings we’ve felt confused about can start to fade away.

When I am feeling lost I sit back and relax, do some yoga, listen to my favorite music, and play with my cats(it gives me immense pleasure).

4) Find time to Journal

Journaling is an art. You can only feel the value of it when you start practicing it. Journaling can help you channelize your thoughts in the right direction. It helps you to understand who you are, what you want, and why you are feeling the way you are feeling. It might sound very intimidating as I say it but it does wonder. A lot of people have a misconception that they need to be a talented writer or a grammar nazi to start journaling which is not at all true. Journaling means pouring down your thoughts in a piece of paper, taking time to get in touch with your real emotions. Keep a small diary with you wherever you go and write about how you are feeling today, what are you worried about, what are you grateful for, etc, whenever you find spare time.

It's one of the best ways to reconnect with your soul.

5) Work towards your Goal or Dream

You're on this planet for a reason and it is not to tirelessly work at a job that sucks all your energy and makes you feel miserable. You gotta find your purpose and start working in the direction to achieve it. Make a decision and ask yourself the following :

  • Are you living in line with your dreams and your vision?

  • Are you making progress?

  • What did you achieve this week?

  • Which tasks were left untouched?

  • How can you improve next week?

Finding motivation can be tough, but it is essential to know how to motivate yourself every day. We need to be action takers if we want to go from where we are to where we want to be. You may not always feel motivated but don't let that stop you. Take a break and start again.
